Customer Management

The Customers page is your central hub for managing customer records in Quilt Logger. It provides a searchable data table with expandable rows, customer statistics, and forms for creating and editing customer information.

Page Overview#

Customer Statistics#

At the top of the page, three stat cards provide quick insights:

  • Total Customers: Total count with a subtitle showing how many have quilts
  • Avg Quilts per Active Customer: Average quilts per customer with total quilt count
  • Customer Value (Quilts): Total dollar value of all customer quilts with average per customer

The search bar lets you quickly find customers by name, email, phone number, location, or notes. Results update as you type.

Customer Data Table#

The table displays customer name, location, quilt count, email, phone, notes, and action buttons. Some columns are hidden on smaller screens for a cleaner mobile experience.

Expandable Quilt Rows#

Click any customer row with quilts to expand and view their quilt cards showing pattern, status, machine, location, price, and notes.

Note: Deleted customers are removed from the list but not permanently destroyed, preserving historical data.

Adding & Editing Customers#

Click "New Customer" to open the Add Customer modal, or click the Edit icon on any row to update an existing customer.

Both modals warn you if you attempt to close with unsaved changes.

Tip: Configure which optional fields appear in Services → Customers. Disable fields you don't need to simplify data entry.

Configuring Customer Fields & Tags#

Customer fields and tags are configured on the Services page under the Customers section.

  • Toggle fields: Use the switch next to each field to enable/disable it in the Add/Edit modals
  • Create tags: Type a tag name and click "Add Tag." Tags appear immediately in customer modals
  • Delete tags: Click the X icon next to any tag to remove it from all customer records

Tag examples: VIP, Local, Wholesale, Repeat Customer, Referral

Tips & Best Practices#

  • Consistent naming: Use a consistent name format (e.g., "First Last")
  • Complete phone numbers: Enter full 10-digit numbers for proper formatting
  • Use tags early: Set up your tag system before adding many customers
  • Add notes: Record preferences and special instructions for future reference
  • SMS consent: Only check the consent box if the customer explicitly agreed. The system records the consent date automatically
