Quilt Logger

Importing Data

The Import feature lets you bulk-upload customer and quilt data from CSV files. Whether migrating from another system or bulk-adding records, the import wizard guides you through mapping, previewing, and importing your data.

Import Types#

Import TypeDescription
CustomersImport customer records only
QuiltsImport quilt records for existing customers
Quilts with CustomersImport quilts with linked customer data — matches to existing customers or creates new ones

File Requirements#

  • Format: CSV only (comma-separated values)
  • Max size: 5 MB
  • Max rows: 500 per import
  • Headers: First row must contain column headers
  • Encoding: UTF-8 recommended

Import Wizard Steps#

  1. Select type & upload — Choose your import type and drag-and-drop or browse for your CSV file
  2. Map columns — Match your CSV headers to Quilt Logger fields. The system auto-suggests mappings based on header names. Unmapped columns are skipped.
  3. Preview & validate — Review parsed data in a table. Green rows are valid, yellow rows have warnings, red rows have errors. You can proceed with valid rows only.
  4. Execute import — Review the summary and click Import. A progress indicator shows status.
  5. Review results — See counts of successful and failed imports with detailed error messages.

Quilts with Customers — Customer Matching#

When importing quilts with customer data, the system matches to existing customers:

  • Auto-Match (green): High-confidence match by email or name+email
  • Review Required (yellow): Multiple possible matches — you select the correct one
  • Create New (blue): No match found — a new customer will be created

After matching, you can also map quilting rates, batting, machines, locations, and extra services to your existing configured options.

Tips#

  • Import customers first when doing a full migration, then import quilts
  • Include email addresses whenever possible — email is the most reliable matching criteria
  • Start with a small test (10–20 rows) to verify your mapping before importing a full dataset
  • Clean your data first — remove duplicate rows and standardize formats in a spreadsheet before importing
  • Split large imports into batches of 500 rows (the max per import)
