Services Configuration

Your quilting business setup — rates, add-on services, machines, locations, and customer fields — lives under the Profile tabs. (The standalone Services page has been retired; visiting /services now redirects to Profile → Rates.) These settings drive automated pricing, dropdown menus, and workflows throughout the app.

Where each thing lives:

ConfigurationProfile tab
Quilting rates and Extras (add-on services)Rates
Machines, new-quilt defaults, locations, customer fields and tagsEquipment & Locations
Thread and batting catalogs (and inventory)Threads & Batting

Tip: Orange dot indicators appear in the navigation for sections that still need configuration.

Rates (quilting pricing)#

On Profile → Rates, define one or more pricing tiers that automatically calculate a quilt's price from its dimensions.

Each tier has:

  • Tier name
  • Rate — the dollar value (supports fractions of a cent, e.g. 0.0195)
  • Calculation — how the rate applies:
CalculationFormulaExample (60" × 80")
Per sq. inchWidth × Height × Rate0.0195 × 4,800 = $93.60
Per lin. inch (shortest)Min(Width, Height) × Rate60 × $1.50 = $90.00
Per lin. inch (longest)Max(Width, Height) × Rate80 × $1.50 = $120.00

Use Add rate to create a tier and the trash icon to remove one. A Default tier selector chooses which tier is pre-selected on new quilts (or "None — pick when adding a quilt"). A live Sample quilt calculator lets you enter a width and height to preview each tier's price as you configure.

Tip: Most quilters use per-square-inch pricing ($0.015–$0.035) for pantograph work and higher rates ($0.035+) for custom quilting.

(A per-tier minimum charge is on the roadmap but not yet editable.)

Extras (additional services)#

Also on Profile → Rates, below your rates, configure add-on services such as binding, backing seams, or squaring.

Each extra has:

  • Name
  • Pricing unitFlat fee, Per lin. inch, Per sq. inch, or Per sq. foot
  • Price

Use Add extra to create one. When building a quilt, your extras appear as selectable add-ons; dimension-based units price off the quilt's measurements — for example, a per-linear-inch binding on a 60" × 80" quilt uses its 280" perimeter (280 × $0.10 = $28.00), while area-based units use width × height.

Machines#

On Profile → Equipment & Locations, manage your longarm machines. Machine names appear in dropdowns when creating quilts.

  • Name
  • Description — e.g. brand, throat size, model
  • Color — chosen from a preset palette, for visual identification
  • Make default — pre-selects a machine on new quilts

Use Add machine to add equipment. A separate Defaults for new quilts section sets your default machine. (Default batting and default thread weight are on the roadmap and not yet selectable.)

Locations#

Also on Profile → Equipment & Locations, manage pickup and drop-off points.

  • Name (up to 100 characters) and a color swatch
  • Set or clear a default location (the star)
  • Delete locations you no longer use

When you have more than five locations, a search box appears to filter them.

Customer fields & tags#

On the same Equipment & Locations tab, the Customer settings card controls which fields appear when adding or editing a customer:

FieldToggle
Customer nameAlways on (can't be disabled)
Email addressOn/off — required for email features
Phone numberOn/off — required for SMS features
Mailing addressOn/off — useful if you deliver quilts

Below the toggles, Customer tags lets you create labels (e.g. "VIP", "Local", "Wholesale", "Guild Member") that appear as selectable options on customer forms. Type a name to add a tag; click its X to remove it. Start with a handful of essential tags and expand as needed.

Patterns#

Patterns aren't configured on this page — they live in the Pattern Library, which opens from the quilt forms (when you add or edit a quilt). You add patterns one at a time: each has a name (required) plus optional description, size, designer, tags, and an image (JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP, up to 5 MB). The library's search box is always available.

There's no bulk or comma-separated pattern import. For the full pattern workflow, see Pattern Library.

Threads & Batting#

Thread and batting setup lives on Profile → Threads & Batting. Every plan can maintain catalogs for quilt intake and invoice details; Basic and Pro plans can also track on-hand quantities, reorder points, and low-stock alerts.

Use that page to manage:

  • Top and bottom thread catalogs with color swatches, brand, and weight
  • Batting catalog items with cost per inch and display unit
  • Inventory tracking for stock counts and low-stock status on Basic and Pro plans

See Threads & Batting Inventory for the full workflow.

Suggested setup order#

  1. Rates — set up your standard pricing tiers
  2. Extras — add the add-on services you commonly offer
  3. Equipment & Locations — add machines and locations, and choose which customer fields to collect
  4. Threads & Batting — set up your material catalogs
  5. Patterns — add the designs you use most (from the Pattern Library)
  6. Set defaults — mark a default rate tier, machine, and location for faster entry

Note: Deleting any item (rate, machine, location, etc.) won't affect historical quilt records — it only removes it from future selections.
